Weekly training: when and where we meet, run times and distances
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 2.
Club runs meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Century City Clubhouse, near the grass circle by the back terrace. Summer start time is 18:00 (6 pm); winter is 17:45 (5:45 pm). Check the current homepage banner and club WhatsApp announcements for seasonal changes.
Tuesday is a 5 km route. The guide describes Thursday as 10 km with a shorter 6 km option. Pace groups form naturally for runners and walkers of different speeds. Arrive a few minutes early for parking, meeting others and warming up.
The guide describes the club as an all-weather group, but encourages personal discretion in stormy, windy or very hot conditions. Check with the WhatsApp group if unsure who is attending. This is the normal schedule, not confirmation of a particular day's conditions or attendance.
WhatsApp groups: joining, announcements, trail and ultra chats
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 3.
Members access WhatsApp joining links through their signed-in member profile on the existing club website. Group invitations are not provided publicly by Judy. During the staging migration, contact info@centurycityathletics.co.za if you cannot find your group links; their availability in the replacement portal is not yet confirmed.
The General Club Chat is for running conversation and questions. Club Updates is an announcements-only channel where committee members post schedules, news and reminders. Trail Running Chat covers trail outings and photos. Ultra Running Chat covers long-distance races and long-run planning. Members can choose groups matching their interests.
Keep posts relevant, respectful and free of spam. Put large photo collections in the Team Century Facebook group. Do not share members' personal details or phone numbers outside the group without explicit consent.
Member profile and annual renewal: updated welcome guide
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 4.
The supplied guide now describes email/password login and purchasing the relevant membership option, replacing the older welcome PDF's emailed-token and separate-product wording. These references describe the existing website, not proof that every feature is active on staging.
Keep personal, contact and emergency details current. Each year, update your ASA profile, download the Member Form, sign it and upload it to your private club profile. Also sign and upload the club indemnity. Choose and pay for the relevant annual membership in the club shop. The guide asks for a current photo wearing or holding your ASA licence; photo upload availability on staging is not yet confirmed.
The replacement staging site uses one club account. Existing members are not yet imported and email login is limited to approved test addresses. Licensed membership products currently include the WPA licence. Refer to the separate dated pricing source for prices; this uploaded guide contains no price table. For migration or joining help, contact info@centurycityathletics.co.za. Never send completed forms or personal details to Judy.
Club kit: colours, clothing, purchase, fitting and collection at SportSA
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 5.
The official Century City club tops are black and gold with the club logo, available as a race T-shirt or vest through the club. Plain black shorts or leggings are suitable. The guide lists the official race tee or vest as essential race kit; caps, socks, buffs, hoodies, tracksuits and arm warmers are optional merchandise. Product availability must be checked in the shop.
Buy and pay for kit through the club's online shop before collection. SportSA in Century Village is the fitting and collection location. You cannot pay the club for kit at SportSA: its point-of-sale system is not connected to the club's account. The guide does not specify collection opening hours or guarantee that a particular order is ready.
ASA licences: collection, display, renewal and lost numbers
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 6.
Complete your profile details, provide signed ASA and indemnity forms, and pay the required fees before licence allocation. The guide names SportSA in Century Village as the collection location. Wait for the club's collection confirmation after its annual licence batch arrives; a particular February date is not guaranteed. The guide describes a Request License button and emailed allocation in the existing portal; that member-facing automation is not confirmed on staging.
Licences cover January–December and renew annually. The guide says to wear front and back numbers with ASA and WPA logos visible, and not share numbers. A race bib goes below the front logos; ensure a hydration pack does not cover the rear logos. Race-specific bib arrangements can differ, so check the race instructions or committee.
The guide says lost licences require a paid replacement with new numbers; contact the club to confirm the process and cost. Judy cannot confirm medical or accident insurance coverage from this guide; ask the club or ASA for current policy terms.
Monthly time trials: second Tuesday, 5 km, QR codes, timing chips and results
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 7.
Time trials normally take place on the second Tuesday of each month on the standard 5 km route. Confirm each event's timing arrangements in the club WhatsApp announcements.
For official timing, members receive a WhatsApp message with a Google Sheet link to their unique QR code. Arrive early, bring your QR code, scan in, collect a temporary timing chip for your shoe and return the chip at the finish. The guide asks members to wear their ASA licence to help identify finish-line photos if timing fails. Judy cannot retrieve anyone's personal QR code.
When self-timing is announced, efforts are recorded via Strava. The guide gives two options: join the club's Strava group and make the run visible through a public profile, or send a screenshot to the membership officer. All valid 5 km efforts on the official route can be captured. Results are normally posted on the website and shared on WhatsApp within a week; this is not a guarantee of a particular result's availability.
Time trials are about personal progress. Pass politely, watch narrow sections and obstacles, avoid pushing towards the canal, and signal or move aside when slowing or stopping.

Club socials, events and volunteering: marshals and gazebo crew
Guide to club.pdf, supplied 23 September 2026, page 8.
Members often socialise at the clubhouse cash bar after Tuesday and Thursday runs. If it is closed, a group may meet at nearby Bricklane, where food is available. Time-trial evenings may include guest speakers, brand stands or a pre-ordered meal; details are announced on WhatsApp.
The guide describes a year-end awards function, Comrades send-off and stories, and Two Oceans/Cape Town Marathon medal socials. Confirm dates and arrangements through club announcements.
The club hosts Century City Express (normally late February) and SportSA 10 km (normally December). The guide encourages members to volunteer as marshals rather than run the races the club hosts. It describes a separate marshals' race, a thank-you snack and a medal after returning bibs/flags; confirm the actual event's arrangements before relying on them.
Gazebo volunteers help transport, set up and take down the gazebo, look after the area and contribute to bring-and-share refreshments. Volunteer calls and sign-up details are posted in the club WhatsApp groups.
